When Hurricane Helene hit in 2024, it left a trail of devastation, including severe flood damage that threatened to displace families across our beloved Florida. For us, leaving our vibrant community and the paradise we call home simply wasn't an option. That is why a group of local entrepreneurs, driven by a shared commitment to our community, banded together to find a real solution—not just for our families, but for everyone.
We quickly realized that existing flood defense options fell short:
- Relocation was unthinkable due to deep roots in schools, our local economy, and personal connections.
- Raising homes meant 6-12 months of displacement and an undesirable aesthetic change.
- "Not-So-Dam-Easy" proved insufficient at only 28 inches in height; many locals experienced system failures due to its limited height, and reported that the product rusted and its internal mechanisms were damaged after just one use, rendering it useless for future protection. The system also requires mounting many center posts to span wide distances and it is recommended that you caulk the corners of the system with each use. Depending on the weather at the time of deployment the caulking may not have time or be able to to cure and harden.
- Old Legacy Flood Barrier Companies- were not only extremely expensive but also offered thin aluminum, limited height, and basic sealing systems that would age quickly and eventually fail in the Florida sun and salt. Additionally they were scheduling installs 12+ weeks out, no-showing to appointments, and encountering frequent delays and aggravated sub contractors that weren't getting paid for their installs.
